Car restorer Ian Taylor has won two international awards for his Austin A35 van. More than 200 people entered the 36th Austin A30/35 Rally at the Bentley Motor Museum in Halland, East Sussex. Ian, who owns Ian Taylor Body Repairs in Massetts Road, Horley, won first prize in the national category of the commercial class competition and the Barbara Fleming Trophy for the most original commercial vehicle. Ian has owned the 1967 van for three years.

Ian Taylor Car Body Repairs were thrilled when they saw Wallace & Gromit's latest film release at the cinema.

Ian Taylor, owner of the Horley-based Repair Centre, has a keen interest in classic cars. He has the same model van (a 1967 Austin A35) as that featured in the film. The van is used as the company's mascot and promotional tool. Ian says he loves driving the van to work and taking it to classic car shows.
His van is almost as famous as the film's one and has featured in Classic Car Weekly and other car enthusiast magazines. Locals can often see the blue van around the town.

Although Wallace and Gromit's van is less than pristine, Ian says that with his and his team's careful expertise and the technology available at the workshop, he could vastly improve the look of the Wallace and Gromit van, “If only they'd had taken their van to our body shop, we'd have removed all of the bumps, scuffs, scrapes and dents and even given it fresh paintwork to make it look as good as new or with a bit more effort, as good as ours”.

Ian Taylor Body Repairs has recently moved to Horley from its previous premises at Redhill. They can offer high quality insurance approved repair work, paintwork, resprays, welding and restoration. Their high bake oven can fit the smallest domestic car up to a large van and mini-bus.
